Biography

Koosha Biglari is an Iranian film composer based in London. His work centres on storytelling through music, blending orchestral craft with contemporary production and subtle Persian musical colour. He began formal musical training at the age of five under the guidance of Maestro Anoushiravan Rohani. Growing up around distinguished Iranian composers including Shahrdad Rohani, Nasser Cheshmazar, Fariborz Lachini, Ahmad Pejman, and Reza Rohani shaped his early understanding of music not simply as craft, but as narrative language. It was during his early teens that his natural inclination moved towards music composition.

Professional Background

Currently studying the final year of BA Music Technology at the University of West London, he has consistently achieved First Class results across most modules. His studies have spanned composition for screen, sound design, analogue studio recording, theatre live sound engineering, and advanced music production.

Alongside his academic work, he has released more than twenty original productions as a composer and producer, developing technical control in arranging, recording, synthesis, mixing, and final delivery. Earlier in his career, he collaborated closely with Maestro Anoushiravan Rohani on the editing and publication of six volumes of piano works, a project exceeding five hundred hours that refined his discipline and respect for the written score.

Although trained across multiple areas of music technology and production, Koosha’s direction became clear through writing to picture. Composition for screen emerged as the field in which his creative voice feels most assured.

His final-year project explores how genre-specific orchestral and electronic approaches can be adapted to create a diverse and cohesive film scoring portfolio. The work comprises a twenty-minute audiovisual showreel across five distinct genres, supported by a critical study examining thematic development, orchestration strategy, and emotional function within cinematic form.

He has participated in international film scoring competitions and collaborated with emerging filmmakers, strengthening his ability to respond to briefs and manage tight deadlines. He produces professional film music in Cubase and writes detailed scores in Sibelius, ensuring clarity between compositional intention and realised sound. He has scored several short films, working both from script and locked picture, attending spotting discussions, and navigating the creative challenges posed by temporary music and editorial change. Through these collaborative projects, he has developed the ability to articulate and defend musical decisions clearly while remaining responsive to directorial feedback.

Koosha’s musical language draws inspiration from composers such as John Williams and Hans Zimmer, while retaining a sensibility informed by Persian musical heritage. His work balances orchestral tradition with contemporary cinematic production.

At the heart of his practice is the belief that music is part of a film’s narrative architecture, shaping perspective and emotional meaning rather than just accompanying the image. Every thematic idea, orchestration choice, and textural decision is guided by narrative purpose. He composes with structural precision and emotional awareness, aiming to create scores that remain with the audience long after the final frame.
